About
Megalift project Division are created to look after the irrigation facility to upland farmers. The surface flow of river and reservoir is to be liftted by high power VT pumps to higher elevation and augment kharif crops by supplementary irrigation. High land farms are irrigated by the distribution network(DISNET) by gravity.
This project is now named as Parbati Giri Megalift Irrigation Project in the memory of Parbati Giri, freedom Fighter and renowned social activist of Odisha.
The usage of under ground pipe distribution work to each chak will lead to minimal/ no loss of water due to seepage or evaporation thus ensuring optimum utilization of irrigation water. Hence the policy of “More crop per drop” of State Govt, can be achieved and large areas will come under irrigation.

Parbatigiri 2.0
Introduction:
The program has been launched by Govt. of Odisha during 2011-12 for providing irrigation to the farmers in the upland areas which were deprived of normal flow irrigation.
To overcome this Parbatigiri 1.0 Megalift Scheme has been introduced to provide irrigation to the upland area by lifting of water from water bodies like river, reservoir, canals etc.
Introducing Innovative Technologies like SCADA, Bladder Vessels, KY Pipes Design software etc to Improve Water Use Efficiency and provide smart Solutions like Vandalism Alerts, SMS Alerts to farmers & Central control And Monitoring through SCADA.
Parbati Giri 1.0:
In Parbati Giri 1.0, there was a budget provision of 7495crore and 208 Nos. schemes grouped under 17 clusters have been taken up with total ayacut area of 2,64,329 Ha.

Achievements in Khariff/Rabi :
Through parbatigiri1.0 is being supplied to the beneficiaries since 2016-17 and will achieve 100% of kharif irrigation potential by 2024-25.
Although Rabi supply is not in the scope of megalift project but depends of the demand of farmers and availability of water in source till now we have supplied irrigation in 17000ha of area and it is planned to cover more area in future years.
Crop Diversification Mega Lift Irrigation Projects (CDP-MLIP) :
Crop Diversification program (CDP-MLIP) it is flagship programme of agriculture department in which more emphasis has been given to grow more non paddy crops in kharif under Megalift command area.In future total area of megalift command will be covered under this scheme,which will enhance the socio-economic development of the farmers.
Parbati Giri 2.0:
After huge success of Parbati Giri 1.0, its 2nd phase Parbati Giri 2.0 was proposed to cover an ayacut of 2,63,801 Ha in 170 schemes with a budget of 10,760 crore in 5 years in phased manner.
Expected Outcomes:
Creation of 2,63,801 Ha. irrigation potential in the uplands.
Achievement of more crop per drop due to increased water use efficiency.
Farmers will be encouraged to shift towards cash crops from high duty paddy crops.
Recharge/restoration of ground water.
Early benefit of irrigation due to its low gestation period.
Improvement in socio-economic standard of upland farmers.
More employment generation.
